PHP MySQL Training: Sydney & Melbourne

PHP Essentials (2 days): This course is for web developers who are already proficient in HTML and CSS but who now wish to use PHP to create complex and sophisticated data-driven web sites. Students will firstly set up a local Apache, PHP, and MySQL development environment then learn how to hand-code PHP scripts that will:

• • include content from external files
• • process form data securely
• • manipulate images
• • perform calculations
• • upload files
• • retrieve and modify information in a database.

Object-oriented PHP is introduced and there is a strong emphasis on writing clean, properly-structured PHP code.

PHP Intermediate (2 days): This course is for anyone who has completed the PHP Essentials course, (or who has equivalent knowledge) and wishes to learn advanced techniques for writing PHP scripts. During the two days, students will extend the web site created in the Essentials course by:

• • constructing a secure contact form that sends the form data in an email
• • creating thumbnail images
• • registering site users and enabling log in and log out
• • implementing an image gallery
• • designing and creating a simple content management system.

Although MySQL is used as the database, the techniques learned in this course can be applied to other databases such as SQLite and PostgreSQL.
